Size Does Matter: Emily Morgan's 80-foot Banner Ends Battle Near Alamo

October 2, 2010 Eighty feet tall and full of controversy - a new banner high above San Antonio has two city groups at odds with one another. The banner in question now hangs on the Emily Morgan Hotel downtown. It was put in place by the Convention and Visitor's Bureau commemorates the 175th anniversary of the Battle of the Alamo. The 80-foot sign was originally supposed to be 134-feet. However, the San Antonio Conservation Society raised questions about the sign saying that landmark buildings should be treated with a certain reverence, not as signboards.
